If you spent your high school days (or, hey, even now, no judgment) wearing black lipstick and fishnets, and you’re going to become a father, a nice, adorable baby name might not be the way to go. The good news is that there are numerous goth-inspired baby names for children of all genders that will allow you to embrace your edgy side. While these dark, melancholy baby names are perfectly acceptable for the classroom, they have just the right bit of spook factor to make your child stand out.
The Best Angelic Names for Your Child (Fingers Crossed)
If you’ve read any of our previous baby name coverage, you’ll know that we have nothing against baby names that are all sugar and sunshine. But, let us be the first to point out, there is no rule that says your baby’s name needs to be cute, and it certainly does not have to be traditional. So, if you’re searching for something on the darker side of the name spectrum, have a look at our selection of goth baby names with roots in hard rock, the eerie side of nature, or even witchy flicks and fiction.
What Is Your Goth Name?
Girls’ gothic baby names
There are various renowned goth girls from whom to acquire baby name ideas. Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family is one of our favorite goth girls. Wednesday is obviously an excellent goth name; but, if you feel like it has already been done, then the other days of the week make equally cool names. Saturday might be a little too cheerful for a goth lady name, but Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, or (my personal fave) Friday are all excellent options. Also, you must try to play this What Is Your Goth Name quiz.
Morticia, Wednesday’s mother, has an equally great name with just the right bit of edgy weirdness to it. The term derives from Latin and means “funeral director.” That doesn’t get much more goth than that.
We particularly admired actress Winona Ryder’s portrayal of Lydia in the film Beetlejuice. The name derives from both Swedish and Greek origins. Raven, a prominent goth female on the Teen Titans animation, is another fan favorite.

Clive and Gypsy are two goths with excellent names in the 2001 film Gypsy 83. Clive is an English name that meaning “cliff,” and Gypsy is also an English name that means “wanderer.”
Rolling Stone magazine dubbed Christian Death founder Rozz Williams the “Goth Pioneer.” His initial name, Rozz, is edgy and one-of-a-kind, and it would make an excellent goth name for either gender.
