Finding Carter’s second season wrapped on Tuesday, but the future of the MTV drama is still up in the air.
As a result of a dramatic shift in the series’ second season, the focus shifted from Carter’s (Kathryn Prescott) connections with her friends and sexual interests to her ties with her siblings.
Carter’s BFF Max (Alex Saxon) confessed to the police that he had killed Carter’s older lover Jared (Jackson Rathbone) to protect her in the season two finale. As for Carter’s sister Taylor (Anna Jacoby-Heron), she wanted Lori’s (Milena Govich) to take the fall as she was willing and able to do so. Max did the right thing in the end, but the conclusion ended on a cliffhanger. This depends on whether or not Finding Carter is renewed.
Meanwhile, executive producer Emily Whitesell was interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter to find out what her plans are for the show’s future, why she opted to depart from the initial idea and more.

For the most part, I believe we made good use of the character. Due to the fact that Elizabeth and David had reunited, the actor wouldn’t have had anything to do going ahead. It’s safe to say that Lori is one of the most despised characters on Finding Carter, and for good reason. She was just three years old when she kidnapped Carter, but she kept him hostage for the rest of his life. Lori lacks the judgment required to decide when to call it quits. During the entire season last year, we all questioned why Lori abducted Carter. Or was she mentally unbalanced? Is she taking anything that didn’t have anything to do with her? In the Season 2 opener, we discovered that Lori is actually the egg donor who gave birth to Taylor and Carter.

While Taylor and Carter were as surprised as the audience to hear this, Taylor and Carter were just as astonished as the crowd to hear the news. Elizabeth called David, Carter’s other mom, and Lori was in the police station. After telling her, “David did a number on me, too,” she asked him about it. Elizabeth definitely did it, and that’s how the show finished with David’s face looking as if he’d been caught red-handed.
To be honest, I am sick of the crazy woman character stereotype that dominates the entertainment world nowadays. Do you believe it is successful? Conceptually, of course. To me, it looks lazy. Hell yes, of course. When men term the women they know “crazy,” the common denominator in that circumstance is, who do you think it is, but the guy himself. When everyone around you is acting crazy, you’re likely the crazy one.
David is the actual villain, but they’re evolving him to be a character that wants better for the rest of us, and that is why I believe they’re creating Carter, not Lori, to be the big bad in this situation. Lori is only an unfortunate casualty of her mental collapse.
