April Carver’s world is turned upside down when her estranged uncle informs her that she has cancer. In April, a Boston-based reporter, her career is on the rise, and she’s trying to find the right balance between her career, family life, and a romance with a coworker, and an obsession with a gentleman from her support group. Even though she is trying to deal with her daughter’s confession, she is rekindling an old connection. March does her best to take care of herself while also taking care of her family and best friend Beth.
At a later point, April must deal with her cancer’s aftermath, as well as its recurrence likelihood. “Chasing Life” features a lot of romance, thanks to mom’s return to the dating scene. Susanna Fogel and Joni Lefkowitz (Steve Miner directed the pilot) have done a commendable job of swiftly introducing the show’s situation and getting the audience to feel for April. Including a creative first-episode twist that increases the narrative possibilities of the show.
