“The Marshals,” NBC’s new fast-paced law enforcement drama, has a simple goal: to find the bad guys. It’s possible that Chase has enough action and conventional police procedural fare to please if Law & Order challenges your thinking too much but CSI: Miami merely makes you feel nasty Annie Frost (Kelli Giddish) and her top-notch team, which is following the most notorious and dangerous criminals in Texas, are the real question. Check it out below.

Editor’s Picks

There are some very effective US marshals working out of Houston, Texas in this series, but it doesn’t really take the time to put us in their shoes and make us care about their characters or their chase. No genuine camaraderie is ever displayed by the team other than some cheap jokes and one-liners interspersed between the various action situations throughout the hunt. Working together for a long time is Annie Frost, Jimmy Godfrey as Cole Hauser, Marco Martinez as Amaury Nolasco, and Daisy Ogbaa as Rose Rollins Their anxiety for Luke Watson (Jesse Metcalfe) is understandable, but I’m not convinced that their team is too tight-knit for it. However, the waiter never delivers the steak.

In the same way, a good story should compel viewers to continue watching past the first 45 minutes of this pseudo-adaptation of The Fugitive (no commercials). Frost’s role as a leading female law enforcement officer intrigues me, but her character isn’t developed enough for me to care about her future. A TV series’ pilot normally leaves you wondering what happens to a given character or storyline, but Ms. Frost is simply on to the next investigation. There are evident references to her terrible life with a criminal father that suggests viewers should think about her history, even though it may be a realistic depiction of a US marshal’s duties. Some of Frost’s lines, such as “I used to cover for my Daddy as well,” or “I know what I’m talking about,” are just not enough for me to want to know more.

All the people Sean’s search will touch upon including the recently elected President of the United States, Antonio “Tony” Martinez (Emmy Award winner Blair Underwood, “Dirty Sexy Money”); Sophia, who is the leader of a secretive group of inmates; and Sean’s mystery father-in-law (Scott Patterson, “Gilmore Girls”). About the quiz

The event may possibly be the show to replace it. We know enough by now to realize that we don’t need to wait six seasons to figure things out.

The fact that many series receive poor ratings on IMDb surprises me because I believe there are far worse shows on television than Chase.

The sexual content of many TV shows makes one commenter uneasy. Is this all you’re concerned about, Americans? Marshall, after all, Annie Frost investigates the crimes of horrible criminals. Including those who kill entire families (this is not necessarily shown, but is implied in cutaways). Annie, on the other hand, hunts down the evil guys and, where feasible, kills them. This “family program,” as another reviewer called it, has been criticized for its lack of moral compass. It’s good when evil folks die, and even better if you can shoot them.

To be concerned about the sexual content is a bit much, even if I agree with the show’s goals and intentions. Really? As a side note, two members of the team are having an affair, while Annie and Jimmy, the two main characters, are becoming increasingly close, to the detriment of Jimmy’s already tense marriage. Just home wreckers and morning-after scenes with fornicators, no sexual content. However, these are not detractors per se, but they do not raise or degrade the real substance; violence should be of greater concern to those who are concerned with moral issues in the first place. Troglodytes.
