Paul first gained attention on the Vine video-sharing app, a social media platform where users could record six-second films. Paul amassed millions of followers on Vine by creating humorous segments with other renowned Viners. Paul began focusing more on his YouTube account, filming daily vlogs, when Vine was shut down in 2017.
He began to amass a sizable following across multiple social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat), and he would soon transcend outside the internet. He has appeared in television shows such as “Law & Order: SVU,” “Weird Loners,” and “Stitchers.” He also appeared in other films as the main character or as the protagonist. He co-wrote and starred in “Airplane Mode,” which was released earlier this year.

However, Paul has also caused controversy, most notably when he exposed a corpse while recording a video in Japan’s “Suicide Forest.” He mocked the “Tide Pod challenge,” tasered two dead rats, and pretended to provide CPR on a fish.
The latter occurrences occurred shortly after his return to YouTube following a hiatus caused by the “Suicide Forest” scandal. As a result of a “pattern of behavior,” YouTube suspended ad revenue on its videos. He has since apologized and changed the majority of his content. He currently has a podcast called “Impaulsive,” which has over 2 million YouTube subscribers.
With 19.9 million subscribers, his main channel ranks among the top 125 on YouTube.

Paul is able to bring in millions of dollars each year from clothing sales, YouTube ad revenue, and ad sponsors on his podcast (among other revenue streams). According to Forbes, who obtained Paul’s figures, the YouTuber earned $14.5 million before taxes and fees between June 1, 2017, and June 1, 2018.
