What if the “What / If” ending was wrong? There was doubt that Imogen had a stubborn cloud spreading permanent gloom over the middle of the season. (I know that they were serious about being broken, but were light bulbs too costly?) What if all that time watching was for nothing? Those who have done it in the 10 episodes don’t know that. Taking advantage of the anthology framework that made “what” a dramatic, ludicrous, and totally rewarding finale possible. And Kelley pulled it off, while the biggest gyrate of the season was its most prédictable – indeed, despite any expectations, it was very difficult to achieve when you try to discover a cat-and-mouse mystery. (Note: Spreading up payments over numerous episodes instead of buckling them into an hour helped to twist each emotional jerk and balance so that nothing seemed hasty.)
