Hawthorn (Wood)
According to Mykew Gregorovitch, hawthorn “forms a bizarre, paradoxical wand,” and is “full of paradoxes” between life and death. Ollivander concurs, stating that this wood is useful for “healing magic, but they are equally skilled at curses.”
Hawthorn wands are difficult to manage and are naturally drawn to those who are as obstinate, such as Draco Malfoy (and, later, Harry Potter.) Unfortunately, if not properly cared for, the released magic can turn against the caster.
Veela Hair is the foundation.
The Eastern European Veela are modeled after the Sirens of Greek mythology, as they possess enormous power over men (well, many of them, at least.) Their “dance” is reported to be extremely enticing, bringing guys into awkward or even deadly situations.
Although Ollivander avoids using Veela’s hair in his wand making because it is too gloomy, Fleur Delacour’s wand is powered by her maternal grandmother’s hair. It’s unclear how the blueprints for such a personalized magical instrument came to be.

Many of the lords of the Cypress tree wood have sacrificed themselves for a heroic cause, demonstrating the wood’s tremendous generosity of heart. They are frequently coupled with brave wizards, but only if they are also pure in heart, such as Remus Lupin.
