Leatherface is an intriguing take on a slasher, as his flicks also dabble in other horror subgenres. Leatherface, who made masks out of his victims’ faces, is joined by an even crazier family who tortures and cannibalizes their victims together. That doesn’t mean Leatherface isn’t a terrifying slasher in his own right.
Despite his massive stature, Leatherface’s preferred bladed weapon is a gas-powered chainsaw that spews toxic smoke and emits a gut-wrenching scream that appears out of nowhere. Leatherface’s initial killings of Kirk and later Pam perfectly demonstrated his chilling ruthlessness without even using his saw.
The star of the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise defies human classification, yet before he became the Freddy Krueger we know and love, he was a human child killer known as the Springwood Slasher. Krueger was lethal with his razor-bladed glove, but he became even more lethal after he died, becoming a nightmare-inducing nightmare.
What Horror Slasher Are You?
Krueger has 42 kills in nine flicks and may have the most diverse collection of kills given his powers over reality were practically limitless in the dream world. He’s even demonstrated his lethal prowess in combat with another slasher on our list, but we’ll get to him shortly.
Victor Crowley, who starred in 2006’s Hatchet and instantly became a cult favorite, is the newest slasher on the list. This is largely owing to Crowley’s around 50 brutally violent and gloriously ludicrous deaths spread across four films. To be honest, Crowley is a cursed and malformed vindictive ghost, yet he has earned his spot among the top slashers.
While the Hatchet franchise is a horror/comedy in certain ways, it nevertheless boasts good old-fashioned realistic effects that make every head split in two, spine is torn out of the corpse, or even decapitation by intestines a stunning show of slasher filmmaking.
Halloween’s Michael Myers is one of the best examples of a slasher ever brought to the big screen, having claimed over 125 victims throughout ten films. When compared to the other slashers on the list, that is an impressive number, and it is one of the reasons Myers has inspired so many cinematic killers in the slasher genre.

Myers has a long history of great kills, including several intriguing impalements with diverse weapons. But it’s Michael Myers’ murder of Lynda in the 1978 original that stands out as one of his best, as he strangles her with a phone cord while dressed in her now-dead boyfriend’s Halloween costume.
While the actual number of fatalities by Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees is sometimes debated by fans, since the 12-film franchise includes killers other than Jason and some dubious virtual reality deaths, he sits high above the others with around 150. In his vengeance against camp counselors, the renowned goalie-masked killer preferred a machete, though he often made imaginative use of his surroundings.
Jason was enormous, strong, and nearly impossible to kill, which became much more difficult when the character was resurrected and turned into an undead killing machine. And, as if he wasn’t already lethal enough, he was transformed into a cyborg killing machine in Jason X, but the less said about that the better.
