To our knowledge, the actual Ubbe did not travel far west of England. In the Battle of Cynwit, which was described by the historian Thomas Wilhems as one of five ‘lost’ conflicts which formed Viking Britain, it is assumed that his death was in England in 878.
Historian Gareth Williams argues that the first European known who saw North America in the past was the Icelandic trader Bjarni Herjólfsson in 986 – but only accidentally while trying to visit the village of Grenland.
“It tells us that he decided not to land after he realized his error. But instead sailed back and forth across the coast to Greenland. Considerably higher than his unexpected finding, especially considering he hadn’t been there before.”
The first Europeans he believed to step foot in North America, which he made in 2000, was LEIFE ERICSON, son of the famed Erik the Red. But he did not touch the Northern American, which the Norse called ‘Skrælings,’ unlike the Ubbe of the Vikings.

About the quiz
It might have been Paris. When Ragnar left the English villages, mysteriously, and later began to make drugs and make fun of them. He could barely gather an army when he returned to England, his legacy was so tainted. And although that could have been interesting to investigate, it felt that the show just wrote it off to all of his sons – they were all grown up after a jarring (but required) time shift.
After Ragnar’s death, the ongoing fighting and battle amongst brothers were agonizing. This dominated season 5’s two 10-episode halfways and season 6’s many. Universities like the ludicrous bishop or the strange story about Rus felt like this: unusual and more intriguing stories.
Season Four’s first 10 episodes went up again. The story of Anglo-Saxon accompanied a young Atheling to Rome as his Grandpa planned to gain more territory and power in Wessex.
Season 3 brought Paris to the mix and we now followed multiple separate historical lines that were all part of a much broader drama at the same time. The quality of production was even better – very good at first – with even more shipping – actual, CGI – more sumptuous sets and amazing fighting scenes. The cast had to learn how to fight and even navigate their longships with swords and shields.
