Hollywood Undead is an American rap rock band that formed in 2005 when founders Jorel Decker (J-Dog) and Aron Ehrlichman (Deuce) chose the moniker from a song called “The Kids.” J-Dog and Deuce then enlisted the help of “anyone was in the room and could play instruments,” which included Jeff Philips (Shady), George Ragan (Johnny 3 Tears), Jordon Terrell (Charlie Scene), Dylan Alvarez (Funny Man), and Matthew St. Claire (Da Kurlzz).
The debut album, like their formation, was an instant job, completed in less than a year. The young group, however, had difficulties finding a corporation that would not limit their inventiveness. MySpace Records attempted to restrict the album, so they quit and signed with A&M/Octone Records. In September 2008, “Swan Songs” was eventually released.
Despite the fact that their first single, “Swan Songs,” did well on the charts, entering at number 22 on the Hot 200 and selling 21,000 copies in its first week. It was followed in 2009 by a CD/DVD collection titled “Desperate Measures,” which includes previously unheard tracks, remixes, live recordings, and performances by the band. Which Hollywood Undead Song Are You?
The band’s singer Deuce was voted out of the group and replaced with traveling member and friend Daniel Murillo aka Danny. The band was working on their sophomore album at the time, and they discovered some melodic contrasts with Deuce. The second album was recorded with the new member in the summer of 2010 for a fall release that year. However, the recordings were not completed until mid-November.
Meanwhile, the band has been promoting the album ahead of its release by taking part in the Nightmare After Christmas Tour with Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Sour. During this trip, the debut single “Hear Me Now” was promoted. Upon its radio debut, the song was dubbed a “fantastic rock blockbuster” by the AOL Radio site. The song peaked at number two on the iTunes Rock Chart.
While the release date was still unknown, the band revealed the album’s title, “American Tragedy,” and made a new song, “Comin’ in Hot,” available for free download. J-Dog has stated that he will continue to provide “sample” tracks for free download until the album is completed. After multiple delays, “American Tragedy” was released in the United States on April 5th. The set sold 70,000 copies in its first week, ranking fourth on the Hot 200 and second on the Rock Chart.
Origins of the Hollywood Undead
The debut of Hollywood Undead was unremarkable. Deuce and J-Dog, two Los Angeles buddies, collaborated on a few tunes in 2005 and decided to share them online. However, as interest grew, the lads formed Hollywood Undead, which included Charlie Scene, Da Kurlzz, Funny Man, and Johnny 3 Tears. Shady Jeff was formerly a member of the band, however, he left before their debut album was released in 2008.

‘Swan Songs’
Hollywood Undead, signed to A&M/Octone, released “Swan Songs” in September 2008. “Swan Songs,” a fusion of rap, metal, and pop, offered frank pictures of the band members’ childhoods as well as negative attitudes toward women that were frequently juvenile but could also be very hilarious. Clearly, the members of Hollywood Undead were unconcerned with political correctness; there’s an unmistakable infantile tone throughout “Swan Songs,” complementing the foul-mouthed material and prankster spirit. ‘An American Tragedy,’

Deuce, the group’s founding member, had left by this point. “Nine Lives,” his first solo album, was released in 2012. “Hear Me Now,” the first single from “American Tragedy,” was another big hit for the band. Critics were unimpressed with Hollywood Undead, yet the album charted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, the band’s greatest showing to that moment.

Two years later, Hollywood Undead released “Notes From the Underground,” which charted at No. 2 and topped the Hard Rock Albums list. The sextet remained nasty and aggressive, but its melodic ability improved. And on their new single “We Are,” they played to their strengths: anthem-ready rap-rock with an underdog attitude. “Day of the Dead,” the band’s 2015 CD, contains 12 tracks, nine of which contain explicit lyrics.
