The DxD series, which consists of light novels authored by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero, is set in a high school. Issei Hyoudou is the protagonist of the series, who is reincarnated into a Devil after dying on his first date, as the plot focuses around him. While hoping to ascend the ranks of the Devils and achieve his aim of becoming a “harem king,” he subsequently joins the Occult Research Club.

The first volume of the manga series High School DxD was released in Japan on September 20, 2008, in Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Magazine. As of November 20, 2014, nineteen volumes of Fujimi Shobo’s Fujimi Fantasia, Bunko imprint has been published in Japan.
