They started betting sandwiches in their backyard one day that they could make a trick basketball shot. They started filming their insane shots. The video gained over 200,000 views in just one week! They were soon contacted by the TV show Good Morning America, who wanted to interview them.

Cory Cotton, Tyler Toney, and their housemates spent numerous hours as Texas A&M students in the mid-2000s playing hockey in the living room and attempting trick shots in the backyard.

A chance wager over a sandwich inspired the lads to create a video montage of ridiculous basketball shots, which they branded Dude Perfect and uploaded to a new website called YouTube. Following the success of their first film, which aired on Good Morning America, the five Dudes challenged themselves to even more crazy stunts: an impossible shot from the third deck of a stadium, and a here-goes-nothing lob from the door of a flying plane.

Despite their growing fame, the band spent five arduous years trying to establish ad revenue and brand deals while juggling day jobs and driving across Texas on a weekly basis. In 2014, they made the decision to devote their full attention to developing Dude Perfect into a comprehensive entertainment platform, which now includes books, TV, live events, and a YouTube channel with more subscribers than the NBA, NFL, and NHL combined.

Dude Perfect released Dude Perfect, a free mobile game for iOS and Android, in 2011. After that, the trio released Dude Perfect 2, as well as Endless Ducker and That’s Lit. Following the launching of the mobile apps, Cory Cotton authored the nationally published book Go Big, in which he imparted the secrets the group has learned while establishing a business in a world heavily affected by social media.

In 2020, Dude Perfect collaborated with Serious Bean Co. to create a new baked bean flavor. The organization also collaborated with TruLabs to market customized items and souvenirs.
