Yakushi Kabuto
Kabuto isn’t an official Akatsuki member, but he works as a spy for them and fights for them during the Fourth Shinobi World War. Using the knowledge he obtained while working for Orochimaru, Kabuto grew strong enough to overcome almost any foe in a confrontation.
He’s changed his body to be practically immune to injury and to passively absorb natural energy, allowing him to stay in Sage Mode indefinitely. Itachi Uchiha defeated him only by trapping him in a never-ending genjutsu that compelled the genetically enhanced ninja to reconsider his life choices. Kabuto’s strength and combat ability are practically unrivaled, and only the most powerful ninja can even temporarily incapacitate him.
Uchiha Itachi
Itachi Uchiha is possibly Naruto’s most competent ninjutsu and genjutsu user, and he surreptitiously spies on the Akatsuki while posing as a member of the group. He’s a master of the Sharingan’s most sophisticated methods, including Amaterasu’s invincible flames, Tsukuyomi’s illusions, and the combat avatar Susanoo.
Itachi would have been the strongest living ninja during his period in the series if it hadn’t been for his chronic illness. Few opponents can hope to equal Itachi’s genius-level intellect and skills, which he’s honed into near-unrivaled proficiency. Which Akatsuki Member Are You?
Orochimaru
Orochimaru is both one of the most self-centered and one of the strongest characters in Naruto. Orochimaru, one of the legendary Sannin and a member of the Akatsuki when it suited his goals, has faced some of the series’ most powerful characters and lived to learn from those conflicts. His body has been drastically transformed, and he now possesses a plethora of unique powers as a result of incorporating other people’s bodies into his own.
He is said to know more ninjutsu than any other character in the series and to have more techniques in his arsenal than is humanly feasible. Only someone with monstrous levels of power can come close to matching Orochimaru when he’s in top condition and motivated enough to battle.
Pain/Nagato
Nagato, endowed with Madara’s legendary Rinnegan, adopted the moniker Pain when he converted the Akatsuki into an evil group. He used his Rinnegan to control six corpses, each with unique talents, with the intention of reigning over mankind and becoming the focus of the world’s anger.
Nagato could not only master each elemental change, but he could also instantly demolish entire towns by summoning a vast force. He literally possessed the strength of an army and was only stopped by Naruto’s use of Sage Mode and the chakra of the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox. Nagato was able to command the strongest Akatsuki iteration because he was stronger than the majority of them.

Tobi Uchiha/Obito Uchiha
Obito Uchiha, also known as Tobi when he was disguising his identity from the other Akatsuki members, holds the Sharingan, the Rinnegan, and the strength of the Ten-Tails. This grants him intangibility, control over the six chakra elements, access to all of Nagato’s talents, and the ability to destroy practically anything with the Truth-Seeking Balls technique.
While he only has this form for a short period of time, it takes the whole Allied Shinobi Forces to stop him in this state. He was practically unbeatable, and if it hadn’t been for the efforts of a tens of thousands-strong army and Madara’s planning, he would have been unstoppable.
Uchiha, Madara
Madara Uchiha, the man who set the framework for the Akatsuki and manipulated the group from behind the scenes, developed to have all of Obito’s abilities, but to a much greater extent. He was able to merge the Sharingan and Rinnegan to become the Rinne Sharingan and defeat the entire Allied Shinobi Forces, as well as thwart Naruto and Sasuke’s efforts to defeat him.
His sole blunder was allowing Black Zetsu to sway his decisions, as his all-powerful form allowed the goddess Kaguya to control and alter his body in her image. In a one-on-one combat, Madara is unquestionably the strongest member of the Akatsuki and possibly the most powerful character in the series.
