About the quiz

But Steve, who’s skittish can identify where he was, has a story to tell in another bar in another distant Ontario town: the Oak Room. He even flaunts from the location a cardboard coaster to indicate that he was there. On a similarly stormy night, a bartender named Michael (Ari Millen) ready to close down, Calahan flashes back to one week before. Just then, Martin Roach, a strange and clothed traveler, breezes in, frozen, fatigued and needs a bit of warmth and a drink. They too have a test-like conversation, but the visitor gives Michael the chance to share his own narrative, which takes place during a snowstorm, from his infancy. Millen is deceptive and untrustworthy, making him the most fascinating guy in the movie – but that isn’t saying much.

“The Oak Room” goes back and forth, without really developing tension. It is not precise enough to maintain this kind of complicated framework, rather it is meandering from story to story. Working with filmmaker Jeff Maher, Calahan created an intriguing dark vibe from the top, with some flashy camera and overhead shots of the dead winter’s withered trees. The images show a preliminary tone that can’t materialize with the evolution of the film. It is also never intelligent until a huge rotation alters everything before it. it’s never as brilliant as it believes it is. At that point, the time was long overdue.
