Sergeant-Major Morris, a family acquaintance, shows up. He relates tales of his overseas adventures while sipping whisky. The sergeant-major advises Mr. White that he would be better off staying at home when he displays interest in traveling to India. Sergeant-Major Morris removes a little, mummified paw from his pocket at Mr. and Mrs. Whites’ request. He explains that a fakir (a mystic miracle worker) cast a spell on the paw to demonstrate how fate controls people’s lives and how perilous it is to tamper with fate. The Monkey’s Paw quiz will help you remember certain details.

The Monkey’s Paw quiz

Three men can make three wishes on the paw, according to the sergeant-major. Both the sergeant-major and the other man, who used his third desire to request death, have already fulfilled their three wishes. The sergeant-major had thought about selling the paw but decided against it because he doesn’t want it to stir up any more difficulties. In addition, no one will purchase the paw until seeing evidence of its effectiveness. The paw is thrown into the fire by the sergeant-major, and Mr. White quickly pulls it out. After giving him three warnings to leave the paw alone, the sergeant-major finally explains how to make a wish on the paw. Also, you must try to play The Monkey’s Paw quiz.

Characters:

Herbert White

Mr. and Mrs. White’s son. The only surviving child of the Whites, Herbert is an irreverent, loving, and loyal young man. He works with large machinery in an unspecified role for Maws and Meggins. Mr. White’s second wish might, but it’s not certain, that Herbert comes back to life as a terrible corpse.

Mrs. White

Mother of Herbert and Mrs. White. Mrs. White is a sharp, devoted individual. She is equally as interested in Sergeant-Major Morris’s stories as her husband and son is, and she asks him questions with the same zeal. Although she likes to tease them, she is devoted to her husband and kid. Mrs. White is traumatized by Herbert’s passing and she pressures Mr. White to wish for Herbert to come back to life.

Mr. White

Father of Herbert and husband of Mrs. White. The elderly and bendable Mr. White is inquisitive. He is a poor man who longs to travel to far, exotic places. He is fascinated by the monkey’s paw partly because of its link to those places. Although Mr. White grants all three wishes, he only grants the first two on his wife’s and son’s advice.
