The list of Schindler commences with an unidentified close-up of the hands illuminating a pair of Shabbat candles, followed by a Hebrew prayer sound that blesses the candles. This sequence, one of just a few color scenes in the film, ends when the flames flash out. The wisp of smoke from fading flames drifts into the following picture and turns into a cloud of smoke from a steam engine, now in black and white. On a train, the platform is a folding table, where one Jewish family registers as Jews. The one table becomes a lot of tables, and the individual family is a big crowd. Near photos of lists of names give a sense of the large number of Jews who are coming to Cracow.

Editor’s Picks

In his hotel room in Kraków, Oskar Schindler appears. His face is not displayed, and his belongings are the center. He puts his costly watch, cuffs, and Nazi party pins, and removes from his night-table a large bundle of money. Then Schindler goes into a nightclub. A senior Nazi officer at a table nearby attracts his attention once he is sitting. In order to try to gratefully integrate himself with the local Nazis, Schindler offers beverages to the table for profitable war contracts. He treats a huge Nazi table and their friends to costly food and exquisite wine in the near future. Schindler took his picture both with everyone at the table and dancers in the club.

Next to the Judenrat, Schindler sees the Jewish council responsible in Krakow for executing Nazi instructions. He goes straight on to the front of an apparently endless line of Judah, where he finds Yitzhak Stern, his accountant. In order to assist Stern to buy an enameling plant, Schindler informs Stern he needs an investor, “Jews.” Since Jews are not able by law to own enterprises, Schindler told Stern that he would pay investors for goods rather than money. Schindler realizes that if he does not have to pay the Jewish investors in cash, he will maximize his profit. He also wants Stern to head the company, but Stern initially rejects the idea, assuring Schindler that the Jews won’t want to invest. You must try to play this Schindler’s List quiz.

All that’s happening is seen by Schindler. He’s awful. He’s awful. As the war continues, He gradually stops concentrating on cash bundles and tries to save the Jews at his workshop. He is uniquely positioned to accomplish it, considering how glad the Nazi regime is with his job. He still enjoys Goeth and his sad Nazi cronies in order to ensure that he has the clout to keep his workers from Plaszow.

About the quiz

When Goeth is ordered by Goeth to transfer Jews to Auschwitz for murder, everything changes. Everything changes. Schindler spends more than 1,100 of his personal income on the “list” of the film’s title in a rescue campaign against deportations. But Schindler’s con artist hustle (and a great fresh bribe for an Auschwitz Commander) manages to keep them alive till the close of the war. Things are not as simple as he would like—Jewish women and children are sent to Auschwitz by error.

Even more impressive, it converts its manufacturing into a model of inefficiency, so that the German army is less able to attack the advanced allies. He even succeeds, by following Sabba on Friday evenings, to help his workmen re-claim their religious traditions. Shindler broke and wanted as a war criminal at the end of the war, but his list of men, women, and children is alive. Which Schindler’s List character are you?

He doesn’t want to ever make his factory a fireable shell. He invites his wife to come with him to live with him again, who deserted him unfaithfully. Schindler loses money quickly and slides into bankruptcy as Germany gives up. He invites the entire industrial staff and the Nazi soldiers assigned to him to meet and announces that they will surrender. He tells the soldiers not to fire and return as men, not as assassins instead.
