Every time I opened my mouth while I was living in New York I was afraid, “Do you come from where?”

I knew I stuck like a poorly placed piece of puzzles at least verbally. I’ve got South Drawing, “Forrest Gump,” and Mobile Bay, which remembers blackgrass bands.

The South is badly raped in pop culture: we are hicks or simply people “by golly” in our best day and racist bigots in our worst. As much as the next countryman, although I appreciate my sweet tea and maize bread, southern preconceptions are usually simply that – stereotype.

The rottenness of many movies and TV shows, especially horror films, is an archetype. Halloween costumes are even available. The cliché of rednecks is that they live in trailers, drink beers, are not the brightest, dress unironically all over the place, and frequently find themselves in rural places.

Editor’s Picks

Have I ever seen somebody who suits that description? Certainly, but you would not expect it on the mass scale based on mainstream culture. The South is a varied area with individuals from every corner of life. Although anyone can find to support the preconception and remark, “Hey Matthew, what does it give?” I might point to many others who don’t at all fit the image.

There is a church virtually in every corner of southern urban areas, which it would be difficult to argue. When people attend church on Sundays, when the Bible studies are devoted at night on Wednesdays, and when tragedies hit you will hear “I will pray for you.” Yeah, thus, the south people live by the Bible, which is why the south is called the Bible Belt, precisely. Also, you must try to play this How southern are you quiz.

Even if individuals in the South have an interesting manner to say things, even though people from outside can be heard with the word “Y’all” sometimes. In fact, the phrase “Bless your heart” is an insult, most of the words “ing” without the “g” are spoken, and “mom” could be used to describe a mom or woman.

It should be no wonder, with all the huntin’ (see above) that southerners do. People in the south often support the NRA, rights to amend the second, and a bullet for supper.

In the south, people can barely make it down the street when there is light snow flowing, unlike the folks in the north who drive through snowstorms. Southern weather can be very slow, that doesn’t imply that southerners actually do not know what to anticipate and are not prepared for bad weather.

You’re naming chicken fried, catfish fried; But southerners just don’t eat fried food. There are healthy nut groups, vegans, and others that are working to improve dietary balance. But if a southerner had a favorite cuisine, it could begin with the term “fried” by 99 percent.

About the quiz

Texans are playing in Guadalupe’s currents. In Western Virginia, hardcore explorers face the Gauley’s Class V+ fast. The more sedate the Florida Ichetucknee is happy to sedate. However, you have to raft South Carolina’s Chattooga River to enjoy the South’s best water activity.

The South is awaiting glorious open stretches. On the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive, you can drive well-traveled miles. Or, follow U.S. 1 to Key West on a tropical excursion. But recall the tune and get a few kicks for pure nostalgia. Follow Route 66, where it passes through Oklahoma’s open mills.

We South are fools of dance. South Carolinians perfected the funky move dubbed the shag in Myrtle Beach. But Texas claims to be the best move. Scoot a boat and learn the two-step Hill Country at Gruene Hall.

For good times, Southerners may be known, but we are a very cult lot, too. In Washington, the greatest museum complex in the world, the Smithsonian Institution is well known to everyone. The High Art Museum at Atlanta has recently grown, which has been praised internationally for its collection. However, travel to the Modern Work Museum of Fort Worth to witness wonderful art and spectacular facilities. It could be Cowtown’s biggest surprise.
