Most people are aware that I have been writing about zombies for the past year or two. I’m now working on the sequel to WANTED: Dead or Undead, and I’ve recently begun work on another YA zombie story that has nothing to do with the zombie west at all. (Yes, zombies have infiltrated every facet of my existence.) Why? Heck, I’m still trying to figure out how a 40-year-old mother of three who lives in UTAH, of all places, can write about zombies. Who’d have guessed?)
Anyway, I had a dream last night that I was in the midst of a full-fledged zombie apocalypse. I mean, I write about zombies, so it’s inevitable. But this dream terrified the very daylights out of me. I’m not a fan of horror, and I’m not a fan of dreams. I woke up with tears in my eyes—TEARS IN MY EYES! The dream had left me shaken. I’m a wuss, and I write about zombies. So what the hell is the point, right?
But the dream did teach me something: I’m not cut out to be a survivor. No, not at all.
There are FOUR different types of survivors. Most films and literature only show you two, maybe three, but you never hear about the fourth. So I’m here today to throw some light on the fourth type, the one in which I fit. Also, you must try to play this What Kind Of Zombie Survivor Are You Quiz.
What Kind Of Zombie Survivor Are You Quiz
The well-prepared, natural-born leader is the first type of apocalyptic survivor. This is the person who takes leadership, devises a strategy, and appears to think 10 steps ahead. If this person has an arsenal, the rest of the group will benefit. BUT, even if he lacks all of the necessary tools, he will find a way to obtain them. He will do all in his power to keep every single person under his command safe. They will be the ones to make the difficult decisions. Thank heavens for them.
There is a leader in every organization. One leader is more than enough. If you have two or more of these people in your group (think LOST, The Walking Dead, or Survivor), there will be a lot of conflict and misunderstanding.
Everyone requires a leader. Only one. No more. If there is more than one, the group will break up. So be wary: two or more leaders could spell disaster.
The follower is the second sort of survival. Being a follower isn’t a terrible thing. This is the type of individual who will listen to the leader, complete any duty assigned to them well, and want what is best for the entire group. They have faith in the leader because let’s are honest, they don’t want that job. They don’t want to be in charge, and they don’t want to be held accountable if anything terrible happens.
About the quiz
It’s not that they’re not smart; in fact, they’re often extremely brilliant. However, they are more at ease obeying someone else’s commands. They may not be the bravest of souls, but they have a large heart and will go to any length to secure the safety of everyone in the group. This category will contain the vast majority of any survivor-type group. They are good folks. People who are kind. People you have faith in. They will prepare meals for you. They will do the cleaning for you. They will hug you when you are about to give up. They are excellent listeners. They’ll learn to shoot, wield a sword or a machete, and put their lives in danger for you. You need a lot of these people to keep the group functioning and give the human race a fighting shot.
Those who, unfortunately, fall into the zombie bait category are the third sort of apocalyptic survivor. They survived the initial epidemic but are unlikely to survive for long. Every group will have a couple of these: youngsters, the elderly, the injured, and the obese. This group will wreak havoc on the rest of the group. They are unable to defend themselves, thus the survivors must assure not only their own life but also the survival of this specific type of survivor. It will be difficult. This group will be the first to suffer, ahead of all others.
