U.S. Marshals Arrest Ohio Man Who Accosted NBC Reporter During Hurricane Coverage

By:

On Thursday, U.S. Marshals detained an Ohio man who has been caught accusing an MSNBC reporter in Gulfport covering Hurricane Ida.

According to a notification by a department, Benjamin Dagley, 54, of Wooster, was arrested outside a shopping square in Dayton, Ohio.

On Monday, when Brewster wrote a live weather report on the hurricane, Dagley was shot out of a white truck and screamed at MSNBC reporter Shaquille Brewster. After obtaining information, investigators tracked Dagley, who was still driving the same vehicle.

After witnessing Dagley leave a business, the officials discovered the truck in the shopping carriage. Dagley was apprehended.

“Our task force members were able to trace this fugitive from Mississippi into his detention center of Dayton thanks to the assistance supplied from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office,” stated U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott in his release. “This violent fugitive in Gulfport tried to evade his accusations, but the rapid action of the members of our task forces led to a prompt capture.”

Dagley was already charged by the Gulfport Police Department with two assault counting charges, one peace disturbance count and one emergency default count for the viral Brewster assault.

Furthermore, Dagley is charged with a probation violation of a 2017 event by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department which bored holes in hazardous chemical tanks, including hydrochloric acid, and almost caused an “environmental catastrophe” in Ohio, WLBT TV said. As a result of these activities, a security guard had to be hospitalized.

On Monday, while Brewster reported live, the video from Dagley pulled up a Gulfport beach went viral.

The film shows Dagley shouting “exactly” in the face of Brewster. Brewster withdrew quietly from Dagley, the man and the camera operator were shouting about him.

Later, Brewster wrote that, following the distressing encounter, he and his colleagues were “all good.”
