An old man, Antonio Salieri, ends up in an asylum when he cuts his throat and shouts that Mozart has been dead. On asylum, the young priest Father Vogler visits Salieri and asks him to confess his ideas. Salieri starts with a long story that begins in his boyhood and concludes with Mozart’s death, in response to the request of the priest.
As a teenager, Salieri’s love of music is not allowed to pursue his aspirations, but his dominant dad. His father dislikes music and dislikes Mozart, the six years old prodigy, not only Salieri’s enthusiasm for music.
Young Salieri leans towards God, feeling powerless. He promises attitude and dedication if God makes him an extraordinary musician whose name and accomplishments go beyond time. The film starts with an old man, Antonio Salieri in Vienna in 1823, played by F. Murray Abraham, who screams he killed Mozart before attempting suicide. He was transferred to an asylum, where he was met by Father Vogler (Richard Frank) who told his story to Salieri. Also, like the much younger, famous Mozart, Salieri wanted to be a composer. But his father was against him. Salieri prays to God, promising to be chaste and dedicated when God makes him a renowned composer. Shortly thereafter, his dad dies and liberates him from following his goal.
