Idealism is “the practice of formation or of the pursuit of ideals, particularly illusory.”
(Photovoltaics 2016)
Idealism plays a big role in the story of The Breakfast Club. In every character, the drive to perfect themselves in the eyes of friends and family is a challenge inwardly. Some characters use extreme measures, whether intellectual, social or athletic, to be perfect. One example is when Brian (the brain) sought to commit suicide following an F in an easy class.

Five secondary school students arrived for an all-day arrest on Saturday 24 March 1984 in a suburb of Chicago. They are five strangers with nothing in common. Also, the first encounter is a brain, a beauty, a jock, a rebel, and a solitary person. They will breach the rules before the day comes, bare their souls and touch one another in a way that they never thought they could.

About the quiz

The geek is Brian Johnson. It’s the jock for Andrew Clark. The alternative girl of the 80s is Allison Reynolds. Super popular is Claire Standish and John Bender is a delinquent in youth.

They go to the library of the school where Richard Vernon, Deputy Principal warns them not to speak, to leave their seats, or to sleep till 4 p.m. He gives a 1000-word essay to tell him who they believe to be. He left them and returned to them only for lunch or if he listened to an uproar…and with these children, he would hear a ruckus.

So, Bender obviously ignores all his rules, Bender and Vernon loathe each other. He is harassing other pupils to rile up against them. This causes him difficulty with Vernon, who detains him longer weeks, but probably better than to live with his deadbeat dad anyhow. Vernon confines Bender in a cabinet until he escapes to the bookshop.

A few 80s montages are treated, and then Claire delivers some fun things. Allison offers a girl popular makeup; Andrew gets a woodblock for her. She offers a hickey to Bender… And perhaps you can only give anything more once; Wink wink nudge nudge. No more.
