Hollywood, the new limited Netflix series by writer/producer Ryan Murphy is an alternative story about the challenges to the walls of the golden era of film. It follows a broad group of hopeful young people who join in creating Meg, a film about a fighting black actress based partially on the reality of the 1932 Hollywood sign by Peg Entwistle, an actress who had committed suicide. Meg decides not to jump to death, but to go down from the sign. Meg won several prizes, including the best picture, best director, Best Screenplay for Archie, the best performer of the Camille, and best supporter of Anna May Wong. The series culminates in the Academy awards ceremony in 1948. (played by Michelle Krusiec).
Now you undoubtedly have noticed that Murphy changed some of the things if you remember the 1948 Academy Awards for whatever reason. (And I have a wacky notice for you on the end of the Inglorious Basterds if you’re confused by the entire “alternative history” hook.) Elia Kazan’s Gentleman’s Agreement was the genuine best winner of the year (with Kazan also winning Best Director). In 34th Street Edmund Gwenn won the best Miracle Supporter. Hence the loss of Jack Castello (David Corenswet) is technically accurate.

Yet it was crucial to close the series by gaining Meg’s cast and crew broad cultural recognition and their peers’ approval in the film industry, as, despite its regretfully not being back in 1948, this is a powerful message for audiences in 2020. And Murphy had a recent discussion with Collider that he had long foreseen that the 1948 Oscars ceremony was the finale.
All the characters are followed by the seven episodes as they work together to make a film like none before. Also, the movie has a female head of the company and a black actress. Then, a half Philippine director, a gay black man who is the writer I can keep on. The director is half a Philippino. Every backward rule society at the time violates quite much, and the consequence is incredible. It is crazy that the final product is better when you add various voices to a project! The season ends with the Oscar characters, for whom… The ceremony symbolizes for some of them that they have their place in Hollywood. For instance, Camille defends the right to be at the ceremony in predominately white spaces. While Rock and Archie stroll on the red carpet as an openly homosexual couple. It’s insane and inspirational!
About the quiz
At first, I believed I’d watch a dream sequence as I watched the end. I mean, how is Hollywood in the 1940s, when such a film is still not happening today. Really worth recognizing? But the show should make you think of film representations and what Hollywood would be like now if some of its walls had been broken open by society before. Now that we could never have been on our screens, how many voices would we have seen? It causes you sorry for all those who should have had. And did not get the opportunity to tell their story. In the publicity materials for the show creator Ryan Murphy explained:
The 1948 academy awards conclude with Hollywood in Netflix, which makes Hollywood a very distinct place in the late 1940s in relation to the real metropolis of Los Angeles. Rock Hudson (played by Jake Picking) has been known as homosexual by the end of episode 7 called ‘A Hollywood Ending.’ Camille Washington (Laura Harrier) won an Oscar in ‘Mey’ at the end of this episode and Ace Studios will make the first major gay romance movie.
The film has gone with Oscar’s wind-like screenplay, the best image, the best director, the best screenplay, the best actress, and the best supporters.
“Meg” is naturally a fictional movie, with totally different genuine Oscars of 1948. Gentleman’s agreement, one of the first films to address the topic of anti-Semitism, was the genuine winner of this year’s Best Picture.
