Tatooine
The Tunisian desert has become synonymous with a galaxy far, far away. Although Tatooine is apparently in the middle of nowhere, notable for being nondescript, it is in fact the heart of the entire saga: Anakin Skywalker was born there, and Luke Skywalker was reared there. Most of the characters in the films have visited there at some point, which leads to the epilogue of The Rise of Skywalker, in which Rey visits Luke’s former house.
Hoth
While some criticize Hoth for being a prime example of every science fiction world having only one biome, the Hoth combat plays with scale brilliantly. The Rebels construct their stronghold underground in the snow and ice, making it impossible to forget they’re on a frigid planet where they’ve been forced to hide from the Empire. Animals play a crucial role in this story as well, with the Wampa attack placing Luke Skywalker out of commission.

The Empire also employs one of the most striking instances of their commitment to shock and awe: AT-AT walkers, which march across the plains like monsters. They are dwarfed by the environment at first, but they soon loom over the Rebels, giving their world dimension and scope. The snow-covered countryside provides a stark and uninterrupted backdrop for the combat to take place. Also, you must try to play this Star Wars Planet Quiz.
Korriban/Moraband
Few planets are as mysterious as Korriban, the ancient homeworld of the Sith species, who spent millennia learning magic before being discovered by a party of renegade dark side Force users fleeing a fight with the Jedi. Korriban’s native species and these Dark Jedi eventually became the Sith Order, the Jedi’s most formidable foe. They worked together to create a massive Sith Empire that waged war against the Republic, with Korriban as its center.
Coruscant
Coruscant, the city-planet, conveys the intrigue and grandeur of the galaxy’s capital. Coruscant was first mentioned in the books for the original Thrawn trilogy, and it later appeared prominently in the Prequel Trilogy and The Clone Wars.
Its mile-high cities mark a world that has been effectively mechanized, with only the summit of a single mountain surviving, now displayed like a boulder in a public park. Coruscant serves as a jungle gym for high-flying combat scenes, as well as a hub for political assassinations and the Jedi’s headquarters. When Luke refers to “the luminous center of the cosmos,” he is referring to Coruscant during the Old Republic era.
About the quiz
Kashyyyk
Speaking of nature, the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk (three ‘y’s) is densely forested. Wookiees climb the skyscraper-sized trees with their claws. Because the forest floor is guarded by predators (such as huge spiders) and carnivorous plants hazardous enough to take down a full-grown Wookiee, civilization is largely based on platforms among the trees. These treetop towns (which have appeared in fantasy classics such as The Lord of the Rings) are striking for their architectural wonder as well as how nicely they blend into nature.
Sekot, Zonama
Zonama Sekot is one of the galaxy’s oddest worlds, a living, sentient world with its own psychic depiction of its environment. Originally developed as a prominent locale in the now-canon New Jedi Order series of novels, the planet was reintroduced into official continuity on a technicality when a StarWars.com post indicated Zonama Sekot was a neighbor of Jakku.
