The mysterious Ark of the Covenant is close to being found by Nazi Germany and only one man can stop it. With a confident whip, Indiana Jones, an extraordinary archeologist, and heart-Trobe (Harrison Ford) wander up from the academy halls to find the Ark before the Nazis take their fatty little patches. His journey brings him to the Himalayas and, when the local Gestapo agent (Ron Lacey) has melted his palm, he reunites with his old flame Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), and indulges in a little karmic joy.
All this disaster is paying off when the Ark has a boat outside Egypt waiting in its hands at the dock. However, the Germans intercept them on the high seas (it could not be so easy to do that), transporting the Ark (and Marion) in the Mediterranean to a super-secret sub base. Indy follows (albeit he requires some more manual waving). Only to wind up attached to a pole while the bad men open the ark before them.
That’s a significant error, turns out. God goes down orders the Nazis to walk to a corner. And even keep Indy and Marion safe by a trick that Dr. Jones remembers in his night, which is “shut your eyes” in a magic fashion. But Indy and Maria have reconciled… that could have been the whole goal of the exercise. The American Government takes the Ark and immediately makes it disappear into a serious big warehouse.

The Nazis’ captain, Rene Belloq, offers to open the Ark and see if the tables are inside. The captain accepts because he fears the mission will fail and Hitler would send an empty ark. When the Ark is opened, the dead souls are liberated and those present in it are taken away. Only Indiana and Marion remain alive, as they close their eyes.

He calculated the position of the Well of Souls in the miniature model of the lost town created on the stony floor with a beam of light shining over the medallion on the top of the staff. Belloq, meanwhile, tried to bribe Marion with a white dress, and when Toht appeared, her try to escape by getting Belloq drunk.
They took out of the stone chest a gorgeous, rectangular, golden-covered Ark into an oak box and out of the room on the surface – where the Nazis approached them and took them. While their distress seemed unexpected, Indy found the secret chambers connected with the other Nazi chambers. A big statue toppled through the wall and revealed more tombs leading outside.
