Alec Baldwin plays Lamont Cranston, also known as the Shadow, in the film, and he is an excellent fit for the part. Maybe it’s fitting if the overall impact of the film is a little less than the sum of its parts. The reason magazine and radio audiences devoured Walter Gibson’s original “Shadow” novels at a pace of 60,000 per week was not because they were outstanding in and of themselves, but rather because they brought about a dream as a whole.
