Olivia Dunham is a special agent for the FBI and the Fringe Division. Dr. Walter Bishop and his genius son, Peter, are eccentric helping him. Once a renowned scientist, Walter was put away in a mental facility, which had long been alienated from Peter. Olivia persuades Peter to remain as a guardian for the team, while Walter aids her in the cases of Fringe. Their squad is supported by the passionate Agent Philip Broyles Astrid Farnsworth (Jasika Nicole) (Lance Reddick).
Following a number of bizarre happenings and strange situations which they call “Patterns,” the crew finds out that scientific experiments and aberrations take place all over the world. The studies were related to Massive Dynamic, a firm of which Walter had belonged, led by Nina Sharp, a strong woman (Blair Brown). In the meantime, a mystery bull in a gray suit and bowler’s hat known only as The Observer (Michael Cerveris) follows the team and watches every step as the gang continues to confront bizarre and unusual cases.
After some of Walter’s earlier experiments, the gang finds that a bioterrorist organization, known as ZFT. They plan to liberate David Robert Jones and kidnap Olivia for her goal. They aim to release her commander from prison. Jones tells Olivia that she was a child in the trials with his dead collaborator, William Bell, that she conducted with Walter. With Cortexiphan, Walter injected Olivia, a nootropic medicine that granted her psychokinetic skills.
