1973’s The Sting, a renowned American caper film that starred Paul Newman and Robert Redford, was the second time they appeared on screen together. In addition to the best picture award, it won seven other Academy Awards.
The film opens in September 1936 in Joliet, Illinois. Johnny Hooker (Redford) and Luther (Robert Earl Jones) con a courier out of $11,000, not realizing that the money was meant to be transferred to gangster Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Earl Jones) (Robert Shaw). Henry Gondorff (Newman) is a con artist who lives in Chicago, and he advises that Hooker associate with him.
William Snyder (Charles Durning), who accuses him of stealing money from one of Lonnegan’s men and demands a piece of the proceeds. “Hooker” offers Luther $2,000 in counterfeit money before returning to find his partner dead.
Billie, Gondorff’s girlfriend, lives in Chicago, where Hooker escapes (Eileen Brennan). When Lonnegan enters a bogus off-track betting parlor, the two formulate a plan to steal a hefty wager.

Along with Billie, the men recruit Kid Twist (Harold Gould), J.J. Singleton, and other crooks for assistance (Ray Walston). Schneider should bring Hooker in so that Polk may utilize Hooker to track out Gondorff, Polk says Snyder.
Johnny Hooker and his colleagues Luther Coleman and Joe Erie swindle a man out of more than $13,000, which is hilarious. It isn’t until later that Johnny learns the truth about his crime from a corrupt officer (Snyder) that he realizes that he truly robbed Doyle Lonnegan’s bagman. Whoops, those weren’t the most enjoyable of times. Also, you must try to play this The Sting quiz.
Also in an attempt to coerce Johnny out of his part of his most recent score, Snyder knows that Johnny will be as good as dead if Snyder turns him over to the mob. And yet he just hands him some fake money and takes off…because Johnny’s that way.
Is he or is he not? As Johnny heads to Luther’s residence to see how he’s doing, he finds him dead. Luther, rest in peace. Johnny decides to leave town and head to Chicago to find Henry Gondorff, one of Luther’s former conmen. Avenge Luther’s death by pulling off a massive fraud on Doyle Lonnegan… Furthermore, the only person who can teach him how to do it is Henry, he knows.
About the quiz
Johnny, on the other hand, is not overly thrilled when he first meets Henry. Also, Henry agrees to take on the assignment after Johnny confronts him.
Oh, and Henry understands that he’ll need a second “inside man” to contact Lonnegan on his behalf. Johnny’s duty is now complete.
In terms of style, “The Sting” is among the best of the year. “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” reunites the co-stars and the director, which is a pleasant surprise because I felt the film to be overrated. Also, you will find out which Sting character are you in this quiz.
Paul Newman and Robert Redford star in George Roy Hill’s film. It would take all of today’s space to try to describe their ways. Watching Hill and his screenwriter, David S. Ward, keep the plot straight is a lot of fun in the film.
A big, confused, violent city with lots of brawls. Big guys with muscle somehow usually lose to confident guys. Marked for capture, Newman, and Redford manipulate him.
But I wasn’t joking when I claimed the technique was sophisticated, because it involves a set horse race with Shaw as the winner. Paul Newman is the person in charge of the wire room in the building. Newman looks to be in charge of the operation, or at least it appears that way. Or, more properly, it seems to be a wire room because the entire operation is a theatrical set.
