This film opens with a picture of a spinning world with the tune of the French national anthem “La Marseillaise.” In French-ruled Marocco, a voiceover describes the importance of the town of Casablanca. Many individuals tried to escape Europe to America during World War II, while Lisbon, Portugal, became the main port of exit. It wasn’t simple to get to Lisbon. People arrived in Casablanca on a tortuous refugee track, where they wanted a visa to Portugal to depart. The camera sees Casablanca’s lively market as the narrator ends the narrative.
Strasser questions about couriers and Louis indicates that the assassin is going to be at Rick’s on that night, like everyone else.
The location is turned into a beautiful nightclub and casino, Ricks Café Americain. Ugarte comes to Rick, the proprietor of the pub, and asks whether he is going to save some transit letters for him. Rick noticed that the killed German couriers had transit letters but accepted the letters, hiding them in his musician Sam’s piano. Ricks is being bought by Signor Ferrari, owner of the Blue Parrot rival’s bar, but Rick insists that his pub is not on sale. Yvonne, a forgotten lover of Rick, tries to make an evening date, but Rick rejects her efforts to pin him down and asks for a cab to send her back home. You must try to play this Casablanca quiz.

Louis assures Rick that he will arrest and warns Rick of protecting the killer of the couriers. “I don’t stick out my neck,” answers Rick. Louis will also mention the well-known Czech nationalist Victor Laszlo, who comes to Casablanca, and advise Rick not to try to support Laszlo, who threatens Nazi Germany with his political activity. In the subsequent talks, we find that Rick was active in anti-fascist conflicts throughout the 1930s to support the Republicans and the Ethiopians against Italy in the Spanish Civil War. The appearance of Strasser shortens the conversation. The time has arrived for Louis to arrest the assassin of German couriers, while the German official is present.
Victor pleads with Rick to sell him the transit letters, but Rick resolutely refuses to help them due to his relationship with Ilsa. If she uses one of the letters of transit to help Victor escape, she will stay in Casablanca with Rick.
But when he has seriously considered the situation, Rick reaches another action plan. He held Renault at the point of his gun and forced the captain to order officers at the local airport so that they could depart Victor and Ilsa.
About the quiz
This is one of the most renowned last sequences in film history. Rick said, “Louis, I think that’s the beginning of a great friendship, as they stroll over the tarmac through the neck.”
“I pull my neck out for no one.” Rick ignores Ugarte crying out for rescue, plainly stating. Major Strasser attempts to get Rick and has a complete file on him already. Rick’s intimidating techniques are not fascinating. Victor Laszlo himself, followed by Ilsa Lund, enters Rick’s Café soon (Ingrid Bergman). Which Casablanca character are you?
Laszlo and Ilsa cannot therefore easily get out of Casablanca. The two clock the arrival of the pair, Renault and Major Strasser. In the meantime, Ilsa knows Sam very well and requests him to play “As Time Goes By”. Rick enters and sees Ilsa, and they’ve got a past. Some time ago in Paris, they knew each other and since the Germans invaded, they did not see each other.
Rick disappears late that night. He remembers his passionate love affair in Paris with Ilsa, a lady he didn’t know. He requests Sam to play “As Time Goes By” when Rick gets drunker. Together he and Ilsa were happy, but because of his anti-Fascist actions. Rick is on a German blacklist and they could not stay in Paris when Hitler’s army attacked.
